CNY Artists, Crafters, and Creators
A Place for Creativity & Creative People In CNY
Which Membership Level is Right For Me ?
You do not need to be an artist, crafts person, or creator, to enjoy and get the benefit of this virtual community. Perhaps, you just like creative things or want to be in touch with creative people.
Our community is a special place for creators and creative people, and for people interested in arts, culture, writing, intellectual, historical, political, literary, and other pursuits. Our main goal is to build a vibrant community around the creation of new and more art, craft, invention, technology, writing and other endeavors.
There are 4 levels of Engagement
1. Viewer/Buyer – Free.
You can see everything on the main page, see the different " My Pages" of the Artists, Crafters and Creators on the site, see videos, photos. At this level, you can see everything and even buy, but can not interact with others. You do not have your own "My Page", which can be used for networking within the community. Still, this is great for seeing the art and creative community, and events in the community. You just can not interact at this level because you are not a member.
2. CNYArtists Member – Non Selling $20.00/yr
This includes everything above, plus you have have your own “My Page" where you can have a Profile of you and what you are about, interested in, etc, and where you can post up to 30 pictures and 5 videos, and even have your own blog. All this greatly helps in meeting and networking with others, and becoming more involved with the art and creative community. You are also able to join groups, collaborate; engage in discussions, and add events. (Pictures at this level can not be of items that you have made for sale, for that you need to purchase for $15 more/year, the minimum 12 selling spots as outlined below.)
3. Artist/Artisan/Creator Member – Starts at $35.00/yr
Everything included in Full Membership plus 12 selling spots to get started. As one item is sold, another item can take its place. In short, $35 per year provides full interactivity and membership plus 12 selling spots. You can also buy additional spots as outlined below. Feel free to email Peter at psvobod1@twcny.rr.com for suggestions and advice.
The general rule of thumb is that the minimum number of selling spots anyone should have is 12 in order to give a customer an idea of your work. Some arts and crafts should definitely have more – for example, if you are selling jewelry, we suggest the full complement of 32 spots or more.
*A good example of A Selling Page for Jewelry is Cynthia Cameron’s Album in our Gallery at http://www.cnyartists.com/page/jewelry-1 Cynthia built her page and album all by herself by uploading pictures, writing descriptions, adding a link, and tags. You can too!!. She also added an initial blog which automatically showed up in her My Page, along with a nice picture of herself, which gave others a chance to know about her and her thoughts, background and feelings.*
4. Institutional Membership – $35.00/yr
For Organizations, Institutions, Businesses, Galleries, etcetera
Full membership plus 12 selling spots and ability to upload events - $35 per year
Senior Editors will take the picture you upload and the information you send and do their best to add it to the site and promote it within the community on a space available basis.
Advertising
A limited amount of advertising is available to ensure that members of the community are more likely to know of your event. ( See more under Promote-Advertise in the navigation bar at the top of any page. )
Summary of Membership Options:
A. Individual or household Patron Membership $20 Year (non-selling member)
B. Organization, Institution, Business Membership $35/year

Hi folks,
Some here will remember me. I've been away on some writing adventures. I was originally involved on numerous sites, and had to cut back to concentrate on my bread and butter, my published works. Since I've been gone, I've sold numerous poems and short stories. Add to this a few books I've had published recently as well as all of the Editing I've been doing on other writer's short stories and Novellas. My book cover work is advancing too.

Notes about NETWORKING from "The Profitable Artist" by Artspire
Networking
“...is about developing a base of people who will support your efforts and want you to succeed....
Networking is about finding and building relationships with people you care about who are linked to new opportunities, new markets...”
Attend art openings and start making new friends.
“A genuine interest in other people delivers a genuine interest in you.”

At the Hang Local, Artist and curator Ty Marshal asked me this question:
Maria, you had a lot of art shows last year. What is your secret?
At that time my only response was networking.
Networking did help me find new opportunities to show my art in different venues,
but I realize that I didn't five a complete answer.
The real "secret" that helps me, and many other professional artists,
to showcase my work is the awareness of the many web sites that publish opportunity listings.
Here are some that I check out weekly:

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to post an update about the Delightful Devas. Although we are still selling the Delightful Devas as canvas wall hangings, the Devas decided they would like to see more of the world.
As a result, they are now available as beautiful ladies tee shirts as well. This way they able to get out into the world on a more personal level. Be sure and stop by the CNY Artists' store in Shoppingtown Mall to see them. They will be vey happy to see you!

The really cool thing about being an artist is that I can leave my junk all over the house and just call it a "still life".
And guess what????
You can learn how to paint a still life...or how to creatively leave your junk around the house.
